The Grande Finale

Because last weekend was ‘Wien Tian’, an important Buddhist celebration and national holiday, everyone a took well earned rest.

When we visited the community to put up posters about the weekend off we saw the progress that Pi Un, Gop and others had made finishing the retaining walls. This will keep in the sand (a much gentler and more economic alternative to asphalt) and also leave a space by the existing house for emergency use in flood or fire. This wall will also be used as planter beds for more plants in the week to come.

Each time we come to the community more people greet us and more kids run out to see us and help put up the posters. It seems like we are gaining popularity and have the people’s trust. The kids have even begun to call me ‘Pi Hugo’, a title of friendly respect used for addressing older people.

When we go to the community to advertise this week’s ‘closing ceremony’ we see the planter beds have been filled and planted, the place looks amazing! The flowers of the plants we planted have also begun to bloom.

The workers at Con CASE are helping us make the new structure for the playground. Although the budget is not enough to build it exactly to the kids’ design, we have managed to incorporated plenty of their ideas (like the hang and swing bridge). The night before the party and we are all working overtime to get the structure finished in time for the party.

The day of the party arrives. The community has set up chairs and a marquee, food has been brought by CASE and the volunteers. We set up a projector in the shopkeeper’s warehouse to show the painting day movie and slides of all the work we have all done over the last 10 weeks.

Everyone has a great time, there are games and gifts for the kids. Gop is on the music. The head of the community, Khun Pa Sunee, gets the names of all the kids who helped in the project. She is going to take them on a trip to reward them for all their hard work for the community.

It has been wonderful to see the way people in the community have gotten involved, more and more each week, taking control of the project and really making it their own, a common effort to be really proud of. Pi Un enjoyed the process so much that he offered to help out in the future on CASE’s next project!

It is hard to believe that it’s all over! It’s been such an amazing effort by so many people and in the end it looks fantastic! But even more important than the physical improvement is the connection that the people have made to this place, what was a burnt out wasteland has become a real community space. A place for kids to play, adults and teenagers to play football or just sit in the shade by the canal to relax and chat with friends and neighbours. It has been their efforts which made this place, so it is somewhere they will always be connected to.

วันปลูกต้นไม้

วันนี้วางแผนกันมาปลูกต้นไม้ ที่เตรียมไว้เป็นไม้ดอกไม้ประดับซะส่วนใหญ่ จำนวน 175 ต้น ช่วงระหว่างอาทิตย์ ขี่ พลอย แล้วก็คุณลุงจันเพ็ง ไปซื้อกล้าไม้กันที่คลอง 15 เพราะได้ยินมาว่า มีต้นไม้ให้เลือกเยอะมาก แล้วราคาก็ไม่แพง ต้นที่ซื้อมาก็มี โกสน หลิวใต้หวัน ตีนตุ๊กแก ดอกเข็มสีส้ม ดอกพุทธ เป็นไม้แดดทั้งนั้น พอวันศุกร์ตอนเย็น ฮิวโกกับพลอยก็ไปจัดเตรียมต้นไม้ให้อยู่ตามบริเวณที่เราจะปลูกกัน เพื่อที่วันเสาร์เราจะได้ใช้เวลาไม่มาก รอตอนมันโตม่ายหวายยยแร้วววว พอพวกมันโตคงจะเปลี่ยนสีสนามเด็กเล่นไปเยอะเลย จากสีน้ำตาล ดำ เขียว……เป็นสีส้ม แดง เหลือง ขาว เขียวอ่อน น้ำตาลอ่อน!!!

Planting Day

We planned to plant 175 trees today onto the playground. During the week Khee, Ploy and lung Janpeng went off to Klong 15 to buy saplings for today. There were loads of plants to choose from and all very cheap!! Then on Friday afternoon, Ploy and Hugo came to the playground to put out all the plants to save us some time. Can't wait for them to grow up! Imagine, the colour of the whole place is going to change from from brown and black to red, orange, yellow, white and green!!!

วันนี้พอมาถึง ทรายที่เราสั่งมาเพิ่มให้ชาวบ้านเค้ายังขนเข้าไปใส่สนามไม่หมด งานเราเลยเพิ่มจากแค่ปลูกต้นไม้เป็นขนทรายเพิ่มด้วย แต่ใจจริงก็ไม่อยากขนให้ชาวบ้านหมด อยากให้เค้าขนกันเองแบบที่เค้าทำระหว่างอาทิตย์ด้วย พวกเค้าจะได้เริ่มช่วยเหลือตัวเองกันไปด้วย แต่ไม่เป็นไร พอดีรอบนี้ มีผู้ชายแข็งแรงๆจาก GE volunteers มาเพียบ เราเลยคิดว่า เราจะช่วยชาวบ้านขนซักครึ่ง แล้วให้เค้าทำต่อ แต่ระหว่างขนกันอยู่กลุ่มวัยรุ่นแถวนั้นเค้าก็เริ่มมาช่วยเราตักทราย เข็นทราย วันนี้เราเลยทำเกือบหมด!!!!!!!!

When we arrived in the morning, there were still more sand out front to be moved onto the ground, so we took that into our stride. Though we didn't want to do it all, but to save some for the community to move during the week in their own time - a group of local teenagers started to come and help out so we almost finished the pile anyway!!

วันนี้ไม่มีอะไรติดขัด นอกจากจำนวน GE volunteers มีมากกว่าที่แจ้งมา เลยอุปกรณ์ไม่พอแล้วก็ เกรงว่าข้าวจะไม่พอ แต่ทุกอย่างก็เป็นไปได้ดีค่ะ
เราทำเสร็จประมาณเที่ยง สรุปงานแล้วก็ กินข้าวว!!!!!
วันนี้พลอยกะฮิวโก้ไม่ได้อยู่ทานข้าวด้วยเพราะว่าต้องรีบเข้าเมือง!!!!!!!
ขอบคุณ GE volunteers ทุกคนค่ะแล้วก็ ขี่กะพี่หวานที่มาช่วยด้วยจนจบเล้ย!!!

Nothing went amiss today and we were done before lunch. Thank you all GE Volunteers as well as Khee and pi Wan for helping out til the end!

วันนี้ เป็นวันที่เริ่มรู้สึกใจหายนิดหน่อย เพราะนึกไปแล้วก็อีกแค่ครั้งเดียว เราก็จะจบงานนี้แล้ว แต่ก็หวังว่างานนนี้จะเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นที่ดีกับกลุ่มบางกลุ่มในชุมชนนี้ หรือว่านอกชุมชนก็ตาม

It's a little bit shocking to realise that we're only meeting up one more time to conclude this joint effort for Minburi playground. Hopefully, this is only start for all those in the communities.

วันนี้ตอนปลูกต้นไม้กันอยู่ มีคุณลุงคนนึงเค้ามาเดินดูแล้วก็มาถามเราเกี่ยวกับว่าเราเป็นใคร ทำไรกัน เพราะว่าเค้ามาจากชุมชนฝั่งตรงข้าม แล้วสนใจมากที่อยากจะมีอะไรแบบนี้ แต่เค้าบอกว่าขอเค้าไปประชุมกับกลุ่มคนในชุมชนก่อนแล้วเค้าจะติดต่อเรามา……… จริงๆแค่นี้มันก็น่าภุมิใจเหมือนกันนะเนี่ยที่มันเริ่มมีการกระจายตัวไปสู่บุคคลอื่นแล้ว…….

Today, while we were planting, an old guy came up to me and asked who we were what we were doing here. He came from the community across the canal and were really interested in starting something like this in his community. He left saying that he's going to bring it up in their next community meeting and will contact us about the possibility. It is so heartening to think that this will propagate further, hopefully into more playgrounds in Minburi!!

ในระหว่างอาทิตย์นี้ ตอนเอาโปสเตอร์ไปแปะที่ชุมชน เห็นว่ามีทรายมาส่งเพิ่ม แล้วกลุ่มพี่อั๋นและเพื่อน ก็ได้เอาทรายใหม่นี่ไปเกลี่ยไว้ในที่สนามเด็กเล่นเรียบร้อยแล้ว!! แหม พวกนี้นี่พอเริ่มแล้วก็หยุดไม่ได้จริงๆ

Playground

When we visited the site to put up posters this week we saw that another load of sand had arrived and that Pi Un and other members of the community were already shifting the new sand onto the playground! These guys never take a break!

อาทิตย์นี้พวกช่างก่อสร้างที่ CASE สร้างม้านั่งมาหลายตัว เราเอามาให้เด็กแข่งกันทาสีตกแต่งม้านั่งสำหรับสนามเด็กเล่นอันใหม่ของพวกเค้า การตัดสินจะทำเมื่อเปิดสนามเด็กเล่นในอีก ๓ อาทิตย์ กลุ่มไหนทาสีได้เด็ดสุด ชนะ!!!!

พี่ๆ GE หลายคนช่วยกันผสมสีให้กลุ่มน้องๆ แล้วทุกคนก็ลงมือทาสีกันทันที!

Construction workers at CASE have been building timber benches for the playground over the past week and this morning we took them to the playground to be painted by the kids.
Its going to be a competition, the team with the most spectacular bench wins! The kids rushed in to form teams and claimed their benches for painting. Some GE volunteers help the kids mix the colours they want and everyone started painting.

แต่ละกลุ่มต่างก็มีแผนการทาสีที่ต่างกันไป บ้างก็ทาสีพื้นลงก่อนเลย อีกกลุ่มนึงทาเป็นแถบต่างสีเอาไว้ก่อน อีกกลุ่มเริ่มด้วยการลงมือวาดรูปทะเลลงไปบนเก้าอี้เลย

All the teams have different strategies, some started with painting on a base colour, others tried stripes or got straight into painting a beach scene!

ระหว่างที่พวกน้องๆกำลังวุ่นทาสีกันอยู่ กลุ่ม GE Volunteer หลายคนก็ช่วยกันขัดสีเก่าออกจากพวก ชิงช้า ม้าโยกเดิม ในขณะเดียวกัน อีกกลุ่มก็เกลี่ยดินที่เหลือต่อจากเดิม โดยที่พี่อั๋นก็คอยช่วยคุมงานอยู่ไม่ห่าง

Meanwhile the other volunteers have been busy sanding the old pieces of play equipment, preparing them for a fresh coat of paint while yet another group have continued levelling the ground under directions of the unstoppable Pi Un.

แล้วก็ถึงเวลาเติมแต่งลวดลาย เครื่องประดับลงบนเก้าอี้ คราวนี้ก็ได้เห็นความคิดสร้างสรรค์ของน้องๆกันอีก ด้วยการใช้วัสดุรอบๆตัวให้เป็นประโยชน์ ขวดเปล่าก็กลายมาเป็นที่ปั๊มรูปวงกลม ดอกไม้ ใบไม้ก็ถูกเอามาเป็นแบบลอกลายเสียเลย ส่วนฉากทะเลของเราก็มีทรายของจริงมาเพิ่มความสมจริงสมจัง!!!

Time for the finishing touches: the kids are very inventive with their methods of decoration, circles are made by dipping the base of a bottle in paint and using it like stamp, leaves and flowers are used as stencils and sand is used to really bring the beach to life!

และแล้วแต่ละกลุ่มก็ทาสีม้านั่งกันสำเร็จ!! ดูดีทุกตัวเลย!!!!

The benches are finished and all look amazing! We have to wait until the playground opening in three weeks time for the winners to be chosen.

คราวนี้ทุกคนก็เลยมาช่วยกันทาสีชิงช้ากันต่อ เด็กๆเป็นคนเลือกสีที่ทาเอง ถึงแม้ว่าจะเถียงกันอยู่นานมากก็ตาม!! ในเวลาไม่นาน ชิงช้า กระดานลื่นแต่ละอันก็มีสีสันใหม่สดใส ดูดีกว่าซื้อใหม่ตั้งหลายเท่าแนะ!!

Then its time to paint the old playground swings and slides. The kids chose the colour schemes (after some fiery debate!) and everyone pitched in to paint. Pretty soon they were done and all looked great, better than new!

เสร็จแล้วทุกคนก็ช่วยกันเก็บของทำความสะอาดในสนามเด็กเล่น ก่อนที่จะมาชื่นชมผลงานของวันนี้
เป็นข้อพิสูจน์อย่างดีเลยว่าเด็กพวกนี้มีความคิดสร้างสรรค์มากมายล้นหลามแค่ไหน ทุกคนในชุมชนคงจะภาคภูมิใจกับผลงานของเด็กๆในวันนี้มาก

Finally everyone cleaned up and took another look at their masterpieces. It really showed how creative and talented these kids are, its something for the whole community to be proud of.

ได้ข่าวกรองมาว่าวันนี้กลุ่มเพื่อนๆ GE volunteers จะมากัน 50 คน!!!!!! โอววววววววว

อีกเรืองที่น่าตื่นเต้นคือวันนี้เป็นวันขนทราย น่าจะเป็นวันที่เห็นการเปลี่ยนแปลงมากพอสมควร มันเริ่มจะเป็นรูปเป็นร่างแล้ว!! ดีใจจัง!!!!!

Sand Day

After a week away I was amazed at the change that has occurred to the site. The rubble from the around the site has been redistributed over the lowest part. Ploy told me that most of this has been done over the week by local people on their own initiative. Sand has been delivered to cover the rubble in preparation for the football field. This week we have the most GE volunteers to date and we have prepared posters showing them the work done so far and illustrating the tasks and numbers of people needed for the work today.

พอเรามาถึงกัน ที่น่าสนใจและตกใจคือ ในช่วงระหว่างอาทิตย์ มีกลุ่มคนในชุมชนกลุ่มนึง คือกลุ่มพี่อั๋นและกลุ่มวัยรุ่นที่มาช่วยเราครั้งก่อนๆ เค้าได้เกลี่ยหินที่เราแยกๆไว้มาถมพื้นที่สำหรับเททรายให้พวกเรา เราจะได้ไม่เปลืองทรายมาก เรารู้สึกว่ามันเป็นเรื่องที่น่าสนใจมาก เพราะมันไม่ได้สื่อแค่ว่าเค้าทำไว้ให้เรา แต่เค้าเริ่มเข้าใจว่ามันก็เป็นของเค้าเอง เราแค่มาช่วยเท่านั้น เพราะฉนั้นไม่ใช่แค่รอให้ถึงวันเสาร์ค่อยมา แต่เอากลับไปคิดต่อ จัดการต่อ ว่าขั้นต่อไปจะทำอะไร..น่ารักมาก

As the roads were too narrow for cars and trucks to enter, the sand was dumped at the entrance to the community and carted into the site. One team filled the barrows, one team carted the barrows to and fro, one team flattened the sand over the rubble at the site and another team continued cleaning the remainder on the site. The sand is quickly moved and the whole team continued to level the remainder of the site.

รอบนี้คนเยอะจริง เราต้องมีการบริหารคนนิดหน่อย แต่ก็เป็นไปได้เรื่อยๆ ทุกคนแบ่งหน้าที่กัน กลุ่มนึงขนทราย กลุ่มนึงเกลี่ยทราย กลุ่มนึงขุดดิน กลุ่มนึงเก็บขยะ หนุกหนานน..รอบนี้เด็กๆน้อยลงนะ แต่ว่าเห็นคนหน้าแปลกๆ ที่ไม่เคยเห็นมาก่อน มาช่วยด้วย ดีๆๆๆ ชอบค่า

Pi Un and Ploy discussed getting some asphalt to cover the levelled ground, protecting it from erosion and making a safe playing surface.

วันนี้แหละ เป็นวันที่เห็นภาพชัดเจน มันเป็นรูปเป็นร่างง น่าภูมิใจมาก แล้วเป็นวันที่ พี่อั๋น พี่คนนึงที่ช่วยเรามาตลอด แกอยู่ในตลาดเก่ามีนบุรีมาแต่เด็ก มาบอกกับเราว่า เค้าดีใจ ภูมิใจที่ๆตรงนี้ มันจะไม่ได้เป็นที่รกร้างไฟไหม้อีกต่อไป อีกหนึ่งเดือน ถ้าไม่มีการเปลี่ยนแปลง มันก็จะครบ 11 ปีเต็มหลังจากไฟไหม้ แต่วันนี้เค้าดีใจแทนพวกเด็กๆ ที่จะมีที่วิ่งเล่น แล้วก็ผู้ใหญ่ มีที่ไว้ประกอบกิจกรรม

พี่อั๋นบอกอีกว่าถ้าน้องจะไปทำที่ไหนอย่างนี้อีกพี่ขอไปด้วยคนนะ

วันสวนสะอาด | Clean Ground Day

วันสวนสะอาด
สนามเด็กเล่น

เราใช้โปสเตอร์เรียกว่าวันสวนสะอาดเพื่อหวังว่าน่าจะเป็นการกระตุ้นชุมชนด้วย ประมาณว่าให้มันดูน่าทำ

วันนี้ประเด็นคือเราต้องการทำความสะอาดต่อจากคราวที่แล้ว ขยายงานไปในโซนที่ยังไม่ได้มีการเข้าถึงคราวที่แล้ว และก็เป็นครั้งที่เราจะนำขยะจากคราวก่อนไปทิ้ง

Clean Ground Day
Playground

Today we called it the "Clean Ground Day" in order to alert and prompt the community to join in with the activities. We are planning to continue the work from last week, expaning into the zones we didn't last time as well as removing the rubbish from last week that we didn't have a trolley to move.

ประมาณหนึ่งชั่วโมงผ่านไป โอยๆๆๆ เยอะมากกกกกกกกกกกก!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

พวกเราจัดการแพ็คใส่ถุงดำเรียบร้อยเพราะชาวบ้านบอกมาว่าถ้าไม่ใส่ถุงดำคนเก็บขยะเค้าจะไม่เก็บ

After and hour, we all had to take a rest, there's so much rubbish!!!
We prepared all the black bin bags for collectin them since the community told us that the municipal will not collect the rubbish otherwise

วันนี้เรามีหัวหน้าใหญ่ๆจาก GE มากันเต็ม! ตอนแรกแอบคิดนิดนึงว่า จะไหวมั้ยเนี่ย แต่ที่ไหนได้ แรงดีมากกกกก ต้องขออภัยมา ณ ที่นี้ด้วยค่ะด้วยที่ดูถูกในตอนแรก!

แล้ววันนี้เป็นวันที่รู้สึกได้อย่างชัดเจนว่า พื้นที่มันค่อนข้างมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงเยอะ ในทางที่ดีนะ พื้นที่สะอาดขึ้นเยอะมาก เราก็หวังว่าน่าจะเป็นกำลังใจให้กับทุกคนที่มาร่วมงานบ้าง ถึงแม้ว่าอาจจะไม่เห็นภาพชัดแบบ เปรี้ยงปร้าง น่าจะเรียกได้ว่าเนิบๆ เนอะ

A lot of changes can be noticed this week, the overall area seems much cleaner and more pleasant. This should spur the team on to continue with their good work!!

หวังอีกอย่างว่า คราวนี้ชาวบ้านบางกลุ่มที่คอยเอาแต่ยืนดูและไม่แน่ใจว่า นี่พวกเรามาทำจริงเหรอเนี่ย ก็คงจะได้เห็นภาพการเปลี่ยนแปลงที่ชัดเจนขึ้น เย้!!!!! หมดวัน!!!! วันนี้ไม่ร้อนเท่าไหร่

Hopefully the other people who have been watching us from afar in the community will soon come and join in with the crowd now that they see the changes.

Let's Clean Up
Playground

We had planed to make the first part of the day about marking out and then move to a little cleaning after lunch. The kids really surprise us, however, with how eager to clean they are. As soon as the brooms are unloaded the kids take them off and begin sweeping and cleaning. So we change our plans and one group continues to clean while another group goes to mark out with string all the areas that they made in the model of the previous week, designating where the football field, volleyball court, gardens and playground will eventually be.

ทำความสะอาดของเราคือเก็บขยะที่อยู่ในพื้นที่ รวมไปถึง เศษพลาสติก แก้ว เศษปูน อิฐหัก..และอื่นๆ ขยะบางอย่างเราคิดว่าจะเอาไปถมกับพื้นที่ต่ำๆที่น้ำท่วมได้ พวกอิฐหักมันมีเยอะมากจากที่ไฟไหม้ เราเลยกะว่าจะไม่ทิ้ง วันนี้เลยแยกไว้ก่อน เอาไว้ถม แล้วขยะส่วนอื่นๆเราก็แยกออกมาได้เป็นกองๆรอเอาไปทิ้งอาทิตย์หน้าเพราะว่าอาทิตย์นี้เราไม่มีรถเข็น

เริ่มกันด้วยการวางแผนงานก่อน

First we made the plan

ขึงเชือกแบ่งสนามเด็กเล่นเป็นสามส่วนตามโมเดล แล้วก็เริ่มกันลงมือ

then we marked out the playground and got right into it!

เราทำกันตั้งแต่สิบโมงกว่าๆ พักกินข้าวเที่ยวแล้ว ทำต่อได้ชั่วโมงกว่าๆทุกคนก็ดูอยากจะสลบเหมือดดดด..เนื่องจากว่ามันร้อนนมากวันนี้

The cleaning continues to build in strength with other, older members of the community joining in and shifting lots of rubble and rubbish. One local leader, Phee Un, calls Ploy aside to tell her of some concerns community members have about how prone to flood the site is. He suggests some alterations to the plan to include levelling of the site to prevent the current on-site ponding.

พวกเราก็เลยเลิกกันแค่ประมาณบ่ายสอง คราวนี้เด็กๆค่อนข้างเยอะ มาช่วยกัน มีกลุ่มวัยรุ่นที่นั่งอยู่ตรงนั้นนิดหน่อยช่วยกันขุดดิน เห็นแล้วประทับใจ

ครั้งนี้ข้อสังเกตคือ เริ่มมีกลุ่มคนที่วัยโตขึ้นกว่าครั้งก่อนๆมาเข้าร่วม เช่นพวกวัยรุ่น (พวกที่ชอบเตะบอลอยู่สนามตรงนั้นอยู่แล้ว) แล้วก็ พวกผู้ปกครองเด็กบางคน น่าสนใจที่เริ่มมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงในทางที่ดี!!!!!

By the end of the day the site has changed a lot. Everyone is tired and dirty but satisfied with what we had done.

วันนี้พี่ต้อยยกบ้านให้พวกเรากับเด็กๆ ทั้งบ้านเลยน่ารักมาก อากาศค่อนข้างร้อน ตอนแรกเราคุยกันตรงแคร่ข้างบ้านเพราะเกรงใจแก แต่เพราะร้อนเด็กๆเลยอยากเข้ามาทำโมเดลในบ้านกัน

Let's Model the Playground!

This week we have moved the workshop into a different location. During the week one of the community leaders suggested that we do this as there was some conflict between the locals near the playground site. We are concerned about what this means but Ploy assures me that it was the community leaders who chose this site to begin with.

เราวางแผนว่า จะให้เด็กๆ ทำฅโมเดลจะได้เห็นแบบสามมิติ จะได้นึกภาพออกว่า เค้าจะสร้างสนามเด็กเล่นของเค้ายังไง มีอะไรบ้าง อยากเล่นไรบ้าง ปลูกต้นไม้อะไรบ้าง ตรงไหน และอื่นๆ โดยใช้ ดินน้ำมัน ไม้ไอติม เศษกระดาษ อุปกรณ์ที่เก็บได้แถวนั้น หรือพวกต้นไม้จำลองที่ใช้พวกวัชพืชตามทางเดินแถวๆนั้นมาทำ

Once the kids have arrived we set up outside but it is again too hot and we moved into an adjacent house offered to us. There are not so many kids this week and none bring old packaging or plants clippings for model making materials as we suggested in the poster. This is most likely because we put up the posters later than on previous weeks.

We told the kids about the plan for this week, to make a model of the playground. We lay three big sheets of cardboard on the floor. Based on the drawings of the previous week we have divided the playground into 3 main areas, one part for sports fields, one part for playground equipment and one part for gardens and planting. The kids choose which area they want to focus on and move to that board.

เด็กมากันประมาณสามสิบคน พี่ๆ GE อีกประมาณ 10 ร่วมกันคุยกับเด็กๆว่าใครจะทำไร แล้วเราก็ได้ออกมาสามกลุ่ม คือ กลุ่มทำสนามฟุตบอล กลุ่มทำของเล่น แล้วก็ กลุ่มทำสวนปลูกต้นไม้

เด็กๆช่วยกันทำโมเดล โดยอยู่บนแผ่นกระดาษเดียวกันแต่คนละโซน!!!
พี่ๆช่วยกันคุยกะเด็กๆ กินไป คุยไป บ้างก็ช่วยกันปั้น
มีเด็กคนนึง ทำของเล่นได้สวยมากกกก ตั้งใจมากก กระดานลื่นเป็นกระดานลื่น ม้าหมุนเป็นม้าหมุน โหววววว

Very soon everyone is getting very involved, discussing and making all the things they can imagine from plasticine, cardboard and wire. Some kids go out into the community to get plant stalks to use as trees.

แล้วเราก็ทำเสร็จสวยงาม!!! ให้เด็กๆพรีเซนท์ เราเริ่มกันบ่ายโมง เสร็จบ่ายสี่

ถ่ายรูปกันแล้วก็ กลับบ้าน!!!!!!

By the end of the day the model looks amazing. Some of the ideas represented include: football field (complete with high fence and stadium seating), basketball court, volleyball court, see saws, slippery dips, swings, merry-go-rounds, a sandpit, fishponds, romantic seating, fountains, a bike path, kiosk, toilet, even a small theatre. Ploy later told me that one kids had also advised her that they will have a vegetable garden for all the community to use.

วันนี้เป็นครั้งที่สอง ยังคงตื่นเต้นเล็กน้อย เพราะว่าอยากรู้ว่าจากครั้งแรกนี่ จะมีกี่คนที่จะมา ก่อนหน้านี้ซักสามวันเราเอาโปสเตอร์โฆษณาวันระบายสีมาติดทั่วชุมชน ได้น้องแป้งลูกครูนีย์เป็นนางแบบ

คราวนี้เตรียมสีเทียน กระดาษแข็ง ขนม น้ำหวานมาประกอบกิจกรรม เริ่มกันประมาณ 10 โมงเหมือนเดิม
GE volunteers มาประมาณ 10 กว่าคน มี ชาวต่างชาติมาด้วยคนนึง

Day of Colour, next to the Playground

We met the kids at the playground and went to a nearby building for sheler from the heat. Ploy introduced the activities and distributed cardboard and crayons for drawing. The kids gathered on the floor and drew their ideas of how their playground should be. We encouraged them to draw not just the playground, but all the things they like to play.

คราวนี้เราจัดที่ห้องข้างๆสนามเด็กเล่น มีคุณลุงคนนึงแกมาเปิดห้องให้เพื่อว่าพวกเราจะได้ไม่ร้อน มีคนในชุมชนมาช่วยเราทำความสะอาดด้วย น่ารักมากค่า

รอบนี้เด็กๆทยอยกันมา ไม่ได้มาทีเดียวเยอะๆ ตอนแรกใจหายนิดหน่อยเพราะว่าดูน้อย แต่ตอนหลังมากันเพียบ!! เย้++++
โดยประมาณน่าจะซักสามสิบกว่าคนได้

เราแบ่งเด็กๆออกเป็นสามกลุ่มตอนแรก ให้เค้าแบ่งๆกันเอง ตอนหลังมาอีกกลุ่ม รวมเป็นสี่กลุ่ม แจกกระดาษ 4 แผ่น สีกลุ่มละสองกล่อง แล้วก็ให้เด็กๆวาดรูปอะไรก็ได้ที่พวกเค้า “ชอบเล่น “ แล้วถ้าพวกเราจะทำสนามเด็กเล่นกันใหม่ พวกเค้าอยากใส่ไรบ้าง โดยบอกว่า เราจะทำสนามกันตรงพื้นที่ข้างๆที่พวกเด็กๆวาดรูปกัน (หลังศาล)

เด็กๆก็แบ่งกลุ่มกัน ส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นแก๊งที่สนิทๆกัน บางกลุ่มวาดได้น่ารักมาก บางกลุ่มดูจะอายๆ ต้องกระตุ้นกันมากหน่อย บางอย่างวาดดูไม่ออกเลย!! ฮ่าๆ แต่ก็น่าสนใจ พอพี่ๆ GE ช่วยกันคุยกับเด็กๆ ถามเด็กๆ บ้างก็ช่วยเสริฟน้ำหวาน กินขนมกันสนุกสนาน ก็เริ่มหายอายก็วาดรูปกันออกมาเต็มที่ จนต้องพลิกกระดาษมาวาดอีกด้าน!

The kids draw in four groups, some are shy to begin, buy Ploy and the GE Volunteers promt them and soon they are discussing amongst themselves and drawing so much they all flipped over the carboard to use the other side!

The drawings are very diverse, there are birds-eye views of football fields and gardens as well as side views of plants, slippery dips, swings and other play equipment. There are also more whimsical and abstract drawings.

พอเสร็จ เราให้เด็กๆมานำเสนอที่ตัวเองวาดไปเป็นกลุ่มๆ แล้วก็ช่วยกันโวท โดยการปรบมือว่าชอบอันไหน ใครได้เสียงปรบมือดังกว่ากัน จะได้ลงโปสเตอร์คราวหน้า!!!

Once everyone has had a chance to explaing, each group held up their drawings and the others clap. The ones who get the loudest clap get to have their picture on the poster for next week.

ศาลาหน้าศาลเจ้าริมคลองแสนแสบ ชุมชนตลาดเก่ามีนบุรี

วันนี้เป็นวันเปิด วันเริ่มงานสนามเด็กเล่น แผนงานวันนี้ ไม่มีไรมากนัก คือแนะนำตัวว่าเราเป็นใคร (ทั้ง GE และ CASE) จะมาทำอะไร เมื่อไหร่ ใช้เวลาเท่าไหร่ ต้องการความช่วยเหลือจากชุมชนอย่างไรบ้าง เสร็จแล้วก็ ปาร์ตี้!!!!

ทุกคนตื่นเต้นกันเล็กน้อย น่าจะเพราะเป็นครั้งแรก อยากรู้ว่าจะมีคนจากชุมชนมามากรึเปล่า

เริ่มงานประมาณ 10 โมง ที่ศาลาหน้าศาลเจ้าริมคลองแสนแสบ ได้บรรยากาศดีมาก คนเริ่มทยอยมาตั้งแต่ก่อน 10 โมง
แล้วคุณกิ๊กก็โทรตามพลอย ทั้งที่ดิฉันอยู่ตรงหน้าแกแท้ๆ แต่เธอจำไม่ได้เพราะว่านึกว่าดิฉันเป็นชาวบ้านเนื่องจากใส่งอบ!!!!!

GE Volunteers มากันหลายคน วันนี้เป็นวันที่ทาง GE จัดอาหารมาเลี้ยงเด็กๆ และชาวชุมชนด้วย อาหารดูน่ากินมากๆๆ เลยได้กินด้วยฮ่าๆ

2nd June 2007 Old Minburi Market

The first day of our Minburi Playground work started off tentatively at 10am next to SanSaeb Canal. We are all a bit nervous, hoping a lot of people from the community will turn up. The plan today is to introduce ourselves, what we are going to do, when, how long it's going to take, and what we support we will need from the community.

A lot of people from GE Volunteer has turned up, today they're catering for the community, lucky me!

เราเริ่มกิจกรรมตามแผน ทุกอย่างดูจะดำเนินไปได้ด้วยดี พี่เอียด (คุณสุวรรณา) เริ่มเปิดงาน กล่าวสวัสดี เล่นเกมส์นิดหน่อยกะเด็กๆ ใช้แรงงานชาวต่างชาติเป็นเครื่องมือในการสื่อสารกับเด็กๆ โดยการให้สอนภาษาอังกฤษ น่าสนใจมาก เด็กๆตอบรับดี รวมไปถึงผู้ใหญ่ด้วย งานนี้ครูสุนีย์ หัวหน้าชุมชนมีนบุรีอุปถัมภ์มาด้วย พอเสร็จ จบการพูดคุยครูสุนีย์ก็กล่าวขอบคุณพวกเรา

Khun Suwannaa from GE started off by greeting all those present, played some games with the kids and utilising all the foreign members to teach some basic english to the kids. This is then concluded by kru Sunee, Minburi Upatham community leader thanking GE and CASE.

หลังจากที่รอกันมานาน พวกเราก็เริ่มกิน!!!!

Finally it's time for us to dig in!! GE volunteers are taking their catering role seriously today and were serving everyone. The highlight of today has to be sushi and icecream!

ทาง GE volunteers เป็นคนเสริฟอาหารให้พวกเด็กๆ และชาวชุมชน highlight งานนี้น่าจะเป็นอาหารญี่ปุ่นแล้วก็ไอติม ที่เด็กๆเค้ายืนต่อแถวกินกัน ซักพัก หลังจากที่เราเดินๆ กินๆ คุยกะเด็กอยู่แถวนั้น ถ่ายรูปบรรยากาศแล้ว ก็ตัดสินใจเพิ่มเติมกิจกรรมหลังทานอาหารโดยการให้เด็กๆในชุมชนเป็นไกด์พาพี่ๆ GE volunteers ที่ไม่เคยเห็นชุนชนตลาดมีนบุรีมาก่อนเดินเที่ยวในชุมชน งานนี้วุ่นวายเล็กน้อยแต่ค่อนข้างเรียกร้องความสนใจจากคนที่ไม่ได้ไปปาร์ตี้เปิดงานของเราได้มากพอควร ก็ถือว่า เป็นการแนะนำตัวเองผ่านการเดินไปด้วยเลย!

We then decided on an after lunch activity where the chilren gave all GE Volunteers a tour of their community. A much easier way to get to know each other!

เราเดินกลับมารวมตัวกันถ่ายรูป หน้าศาลเจ้า แล้วก็กล่าวลาทุกๆคนจ้า!

We then ended the day by taking a group photo in front of the spirit house at around 2pm.
roughly 70-80 people have come to the opening.

งานนี้ มีสัญญาณเตือนมาว่า เราต้องติ๊งต๊องมากขึ้นมาอีกนิด เพราะว่าเด็กเยอะมากกกกกกกกกกกกก

งานจบลงตอนบ่ายสอง
มีชุมชนมาร่วมงานประมาณ 70-80 คน

ขอบคุณทุกคน GE volunteers โดยเฉพาะพี่เอียด เอนเตอร์เทนเก่งมากค่า!!!!
